There are a number of good signs for the Laguna Beach real estate market, according to an April 14, 2010 article in the Los Angeles Times. This piece found that “Southern California’s housing market showed fresh signs of momentum in March with the median price and sales pace improving from the same month a year earlier as buyers hurried to take advantage of a soon-to-expire federal tax incentive, cheap prices, and low interest rates.” The article, written by Alejandro Lazo, continued to note that “The median price paid for new and previously occupied houses and condominiums in Southern California jumped 14% in March to $285,000 from the same month a year earlier, according to San Diego real estate research firm MDA DataQuick. The closely watched median – the price at which half the homes sold for more money and half for less – rose 3.6% from February.”
The average price of Laguna Beach and Orange County homes for sale continues to rise, as do sales figures, according to an April 13, 2010 article by OCLNN. This piece found that “The Orange County housing market continues to slowly improve, with an increase in prices and sales volume reported for March. According to numbers released Tuesday by Data Quick, the median sales price for an OC home was $432,000 in March, up 12.2 percent from March 2009 and 3 percent from February 2010.” The article, written by Mike Reicher, continued to state that “An uptick in sales volume is common from February to March. This is the 20th gain in sales compared to the previous year during the last 21 months.”
This same basic news for Laguna Beach real estate was echoed in an April 13, 2010 article in OC Metro, which noted that “Orange County’s median home price shot up 12.2 percent in March, compared to the same time last year, according to a new report released by DataQuick. The number hit $432,000 in the period, up from $385,000 at the same time last year.” The piece by Kristen Schott continued to say that “Sales in Orange County increased 9 percent in the period: About 2,650 homes were sold last month, compared to about 2,430 in 2009. The number is also up from February.”
